I am the love that dare not speak it's name.

NOH8 CAMPAIGN
MISSION STATEMENT: The NOH8 Campaign is a charitable organization whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.

I ask you to have an open mind about this blog.

When it comes to the topic of sexuality it can be uncomfortable for many people, so I will apologize right now if my blog offends you in any way because I am going to cross that awkward boundary and talk about homosexuality.

The NOH8 campaign is a silent protest against proposition 8, which eliminates rights of same same-sex couples to marry. H8 is short for "proposition hate", a nickname given to proposition 8 by critics.
I will proudly stand up and say to you all that I support the NOH8 campaign with all that I am.
Also, I will proudly say to you that I am a lesbian. There is no need for me to hide that fact. :)
Often times, people who are homosexual are looked down upon in society, but why? Your sexuality does not define who you are, so why is it that homosexuals are looked at as if they are lower than everyone else?
There is nothing easy about being homosexual because no matter where you go, you will have someone tell you that you are wrong.
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect whether they are straight, bi, gay, lesbian; they are only human after all, and love is love. You should able to love without having to fear about it as well. There are so many people out there who live a lie because  a huge part of society is not going to accept them for being homosexual.
There is a difference between agreeing and accepting. You don't have to agree with the homosexual lifestyle or turn your back on your faith or your beliefs to accept people for who they are.
It shouldn't be expected that every human being will be the same. Things aren't just black and white in life, we live in a world of color, and we must learn to accept the variety in this world that you will certainly see everywhere you go.

"Homosexuality is like the weather. It just is" -Andrew Sullivan.

Society makes people believe that homosexuality is a choice, but in fact, it is ones nature, and we all have our own individual nature. You can't just tell your heart what you want it to feel, it will be the one to tell you when it feels something special.
One time, I heard someone say that homosexuality is a mental disorder. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you love with your heart, not your head... There is no reason that anyone person out there should be looked down upon because of the way they feel for another individual.
I realize that you are all going to think and believe what you want, but I want you to open your mind to what I just said. I hope you can take something with you from my blog because this is me speaking out for all the people who live a homosexual lifestyle and for myself.
Thank you for reading.
Love, Bridgette.

  1. To be honest I think that the massive opposition of same sex marriage is completely ridiculous. Now I personally don't have any homosexual friends, that I know of, and am not gay but I have friends who have friends who are same sex couples. To be honest they act, look, and are just like any other couple I've ever seen. So why is this such a controversy for people. I completely side with you Brutality. Also oh my gosh I never knew that you were a lesbian. Love come sin many different shapes and sizes. So why can't it also be the same gender.

  3. Bridgette, I agree wholeheartedly that homosexuals should be accepted by society. I would, however, caution you to not be too judgmental of the populace. People always fear what they do not understand. People have had no luck explaining why love develops between two people, and as long as the majority of love continues to be shared between men and women in heterosexual couplings it will be difficult for most people to accept homosexuals. As an interesting footnote, Christians of conservative nature are among those who most fiercely condemn homosexuals. This is peculiar, as Christians received very similar persecutions and condemnations when they first started to profess their faith during the rule of the Roman Empire. How peculiar that they would be so cruel after their own experiences.
